My experience of writing for a wide range of outlets gives me great versatility. Given a clear brief, I can write fluently in any style, from the dry clarity of a technical manual to the bubbly friendliness of a magazine lifestyle feature. My first degree in English at Oxford University honed my writing skills, while my time at Newsquest Oxfordshire taught me to liaise with clients and tailor my copy to their individual needs.

Wrote advertising features for the Newsquest Oxfordshire stable of publications, including the Oxford Mail, the Oxford Times, the Herald series (South Oxfordshire) and various supplements such as the magazines In Business and Limited Edition. Topics for ad features included antiques, business, careers, corporate gym membership, holidays, home improvements and personal finance.
Also wrote advertorial copy for Newsquest Oxfordshire’s advertising clients. This often involved liaising with the advertiser to ensure that the copy fitted their requirements. The advertorial copy would be tailored to the advertiser and to the intended publication.
Worked in the communications office of the Diocese of Oxford, writing press releases and acting as first point of contact for journalists’ queries. My time at the Diocese of Oxford coincided with a period of unprecedented press attention for the diocese.
More recently, I have been handling press on a voluntary basis for various environmental groups in my spare time. These groups include the Wychwood Carbon Rationing Action Group (CRAG) and Witney Green Group.
Updated the help instructions for RationalMedia 2, the content management system created by Torchbox.
Helped to write the user instructions for the content management system used by Sesame Ltd. I wrote the “tips and tricks” section, which helped users through the idiosyncrasies of the bespoke CMS.
Planned and wrote a range of online guides for the US and UK markets for ABC Webworks. Used a variety of online tools to optimise all copy for search engines. Wrote on a range of topics including personal finance, property, technology and travel.
